Code Maroon Tea Time

I don’t have a story today yet but I do want to share what happened yesterday during the code maroon.

So as you may or may not know there was a code maroon sent out yesterday about an armed suspect on campus near the central parking garage. The call was made to police at 4:30 from a woman about a man on campus who looked to be average height, middle aged, and concealing a handgun in his waistband. The police came to the garage searched for a while and found nothing, a few more code maroon messages were sent out to students and the campus resumed normal activity.

While all of this was happening I was at work in the battalion so naturally we went outside to try and get a few pictures of the police in action and gather any information we could.

Skye and Keirsten Edwards

The most interesting part happened on the walk out to the garage when I saw these two girls, Skye and Keirsten Edwards. I am not sure if they were aware of the Code Maroon in effect as it had only just been sent out, but they seemed to be having a very good time.

As you can see they are dressed as Alice and the mad hatter from Alice in wonderland, with a table full of pastries and chocolate and most importantly tea. When asked what the occasion was they giggled and said: “It’s a very merry Un-Birthday!”. I don’t have much more to say about this other than how awesome I think it was.

A very very merry unbirthday

Anyway, when we returned after searching for the middle-aged gunman they were gone, somewhere safe I hope. Honestly if I hadn’t been with someone I would have thought I was imagining things though! Thanks Skye and Keirsten for being awesome.

About Stories of Aggieland

My name is Tanner Garza and I am an Aggie. I am 20 years old from Dallas and a sophomore at Texas A&M College Station. My major is in Anthropology with a focus on the study of culture. I am also minoring in journalism and interning at the Battalion student newspaper as a photographer. Photography is something I am passionate about, and I have always wanted a way to present my photos in a way that can bring people together, so when I recently saw a website called: “Called Humans of New York” I knew that I wanted to do something very similar that would engage the people of A&M. What better way to get peoples attention than by showing them the incredible details that they might miss every single day? So that is me, and this is my goal: To talk to people and get to know them, to present quality photos, and to show Aggies, former Aggies, and anyone affiliated with Texas A&M how incredible and unique each individual is that makes up this great university and the worldwide network associated with it.

I watched (finally) Alice in Wonderland so I can get this “thing” they are doing. I gotta say the author of The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland really had some mad trips while writing.
